Transforming National Service for a Brighter Future

President Ushers in a New Era for the National Service Scheme

Accra, Ghana - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has unveiled a comprehensive National Service Scheme (NSS) policy for the period 2024-2034. This landmark policy aims to modernize and enhance the NSS, empowering Ghanaian youth to contribute meaningfully to the nation's development.

The new policy focuses on several key areas, including:

  • Expansion of service opportunities: Expanding service placement options beyond traditional sectors such as education and health to include emerging fields like technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Strengthened training and skills development: Providing comprehensive training programs and vocational skills to equip National Service Personnel (NSPs) with in-demand skills for the job market.
  • Enhanced financial support: Increasing stipends and allowances for NSPs to cover living expenses and other necessary costs associated with their service.
  • Improved monitoring and evaluation: Implementing a robust monitoring and evaluation system to track the progress and impact of the NSS program.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized the crucial role of the NSS in shaping the future of Ghana's youth. "This new policy will provide our young people with the opportunities and support they need to make their mark on the world," he said.

The launch of the NSS policy was met with enthusiasm by stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, universities, and the private sector. They hailed the policy as a transformative initiative that will empower the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.

The implementation of the NSS policy is expected to begin immediately, with the goal of creating a more vibrant, effective, and impactful National Service Scheme for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
