WEB Hudsons Adventure Island: A Retro Classic Preserved

An Adaptation of Wonder Boy

WEB Hudson's Adventure Island, known as Takahashi Meijin no Bōken Jima in Japan, is an adaptation of the classic arcade game Wonder Boy, originally published by Sega. Developed by Escape, later known as Westone Bit, Wonder Boy was a hit upon its release in 1986.

Master Higgins' Adventure

The game follows the adventures of Master Higgins, who lives peacefully in the South Pacific wearing only a grass skirt and a cap. However, his idyllic life is shattered when the Evil Witch Doctor decides to kidnap his girlfriend, Tina.

Determined to rescue his beloved, Master Higgins embarks on a perilous journey through six treacherous stages, facing a variety of enemies and obstacles. Along the way, he must collect power-ups to aid him in his quest, such as the Miracle Feather that allows him to fly and the Fire Ball that grants him the ability to shoot fireballs.

Preserved as a Museum Piece

WEB Hudson's Adventure Island is now considered a retro classic and is preserved as a museum piece in the Internet Archive. The game's simple yet addictive gameplay, charming graphics, and catchy music have made it a favorite among generations of gamers.

Today, WEB Hudson's Adventure Island can be played online through emulators, allowing gamers to experience this nostalgic gem firsthand. It remains a testament to the enduring power of classic gaming and a reminder of the golden age of arcade games.
