Stoughton Sweeps Portage in Badger Small Dual

Vikings Win 7-0 for Second Straight Dual Victory

Stoughton, Wis. - The Stoughton girls tennis team continued its strong start to the season with a 7-0 sweep of Portage in a Badger Small Conference dual meet on Thursday afternoon.

The Vikings won all three singles matches and four doubles matches to improve to 2-0 in dual meets this season.

Stoughton's No. 1 singles player, senior Emily Brewer, defeated Portage's No. 1 player, junior Maddie Anderson, 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, Stoughton's sophomore Abby Martin defeated Portage's sophomore Ella Wendt, 6-3, 6-0.

And at No. 3 singles, Stoughton's junior Ella Halverson defeated Portage's junior Grace Kish, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, Stoughton's No. 1 team of Brewer and Martin defeated Anderson and Wendt, 6-2, 6-0.

The Vikings' No. 2 team of Halverson and sophomore Abby Reamer defeated Kish and Portage's senior Brianna Lambrecht, 6-3, 6-1.

Stoughton's No. 3 team of senior Paige Johnson and junior Ella Wegner defeated Portage's sophomore Maddie Gottschalk and freshman Ava Erickson, 6-1, 6-0.

And the Vikings' No. 4 team of senior Anna Berens and freshman Lexi Cook defeated Portage's junior Sarah Shaffer and sophomore Emily Wendt, 6-2, 6-0.
